Student Scholarship Award Criteria

All pharmacy students who are ACA or ACVP student members are eligible to apply for ONE of the ACA Research & Education Foundation Scholarships per academic year.

 

Eligibility

All pharmacy students who are ACA or ACVP student members are eligible to apply for ONE of the ACA Research & Education Foundation Scholarships per academic year. The student must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. school or college of pharmacy on a full-time basis during the term that the scholarship is awarded. Note: Students may only receive this award one time.

Children of ACA Research & Education Foundation Officers or ACA/ACVP Officers are not eligible to participate in the program.

  • Assisting practitioners in developing new and innovative practice sites,
  • Providing advanced education and training programs in disease state management,
  • Responding to individual requests for information from pharmacy practitioners,
  • Responding to requests for information from other health care professionals concerned with pharmacological and therapeutic components of health care, and
  • Strengthening the management skills for individuals developing and maintaining private pharmacy practices throughout the United States and Canada.

The ACA Research & Education Resource Center is located in Bartlett, Tennessee, a suburb of Memphis. The building houses a library containing hundreds of books and journals related to topics ranging from marketing and management of your pharmacy to establishing a disease management program and measuring economic outcomes.

The ACA Research & Education Resource Center provides an inquiry support line for ACA Fellows to use. The Center is designed to help ACA Fellows and other health care professionals find answers to their questions. Each inquiry is handled by the Center’s professional staff and consultants with additional support from experts in pharmacy and medicine from throughout the United States.

Currently we have the following scholarships available:

The ACA Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence and the Willie Osborn Student Scholarship for Entrepreneurism will be awarded on an individual basis and are non-transferable. Each recipient will receive a check from the ACA Research & Education Foundation for $500. The June 15th deadline scholarships will be awarded at the ACA Fall Pharmacy Conference in August and the December 15th deadline scholarships will be awarded at the ACA Annual Conference & Expo in February.

Note: The award recipient must be present at the ACA Conference (February or August) to receive this award. Approved travel and lodging will be provided, along with a complimentary registration to the appropriate Conference.

The ACA Presidential Scholarship for Academic and Leadership Excellence  will be awarded on following:

  • Leadership Qualities: Potential candidates will be evaluated by the ACA Research & Education Foundation Scholarship Committee on the basis of leadership qualities and accomplishments with a demonstrated interest in independent pharmacy, as well as involvement in extracurricular activities. These qualities will be measured by the required supporting documents.
  • Academic Achievement: Scholastic success is a necessary condition for consideration and will be measured using current college transcripts.

The ACA Research & Education Foundation’s Willie Osborn Student Scholarship for Entrepreneurism will be awarded on the following:

  • Demonstrated Interest in Entrepreneurism: The applicant must provide a description of his or her demonstrated interest in entrepreneurism. These qualities will be measured by the required supporting documents.
  • Leadership Qualities: Potential candidates will be evaluated by the ACA Research & Education Foundation Scholarship Committee on the basis of leadership qualities and accomplishments with a demonstrated interest in independent pharmacy, as well as involvement in extracurricular activities. These qualities will be measured by the required supporting documents.
  • Academic Achievement: Scholastic success is a necessary condition for consideration and will be measured using current college transcripts.

The George Malmberg Student Scholarship for Compounding Excellence will be awarded on an individual basis and is non-transferable. Each recipient will receive a complimentary registration to one Compounding Training Course (excluding the Comprehensive Sterile), of their choice, held at one of the ACA National Training Headquarters. Approved travel and lodging will be provided to attend the course.

Note: Registration for the compounding course must be made within six (6) months. The course is not redeemable for cash.

The ACA Research & Education Foundation’s George Malmberg Student Scholarship for Compounding Excellence will be awarded on the following:

  • Leadership Qualities: Potential candidates will be evaluated by the ACA Research & Education Foundation Scholarship Committee on the basis of leadership qualities and accomplishments with a demonstrated interest in an independent compounding pharmacy, as well as involvement in extracurricular activities. These qualities will be measured by the required supporting documents.
  • Academic Achievement: Scholastic success is a necessary condition for consideration and will be measured using current college transcripts.
  • Demonstrated Interest: Scholarships are awarded to students based on career goals and objectives and established interest in an independent compounding pharmacy as a career option.
